Better Business Bureau is alerting consumers and businesses about a phishing scheme that uses both e-mail messages and blog posts directing recipients and viewers to register software with BBB. BBB wants the public to know that such messages and posts are not coming from any element of the BBB System, and that this attack has not affected BBB computer systems or networks nor has any data been comprised.

In light of the current downward trend of the U.S. economy, the National Retail Federation estimates that holiday retail spending will increase by a paltry 2.2 percent, the slowest rate of growth in the last six years. As a result, companies are expected to hire fewer seasonal employees and, unfortunately, this means fewer jobs for cash-strapped consumers looking to supplement their holiday spending money. Better Business Bureau recommends that job hunters looking for seasonal employment start their search now, and is offering advice for landing a job for the holidays.

The Council of Better Business Bureaus today announced that The Dannon Company has become the 15th company to join the Children’s Food and Beverage Advertising Initiative. BBB also announced approval of The Dannon Company’s pledge. This pledge includes the commitment that 100 percent of advertising directed primarily to children under 12 in television, radio, print and Internet venues will be for products that meet nutritional guidelines that BBB has reviewed and approved.
